In addition, we have received endorsements from leading evangelicals:
John Morehead is well known as an evangelical with a difference.
Instead of trying to thrust his faith down other people's throats,
whether they like it or not, he listens and attempts to understand
why a person is not a Christian. Then he crafts a response that
respects the person while remaining true to the central core of
Christianity. John is someone who takes St. Paul's injunction in
1 Corinthians 9.22: "I become all things to all people that
I may win some", seriously. Would that all evangelicals took
this advice as seriously as he does.

Traditional ministries to cults and new religions have not been as effective as we might have hoped through the years. Christians interested in making important inroads for the Gospel among these lost people need to explore new alternatives for impact. John Morehead is one of the key Christian leaders blazing a new trail. In my own experience and ministry I’ve found his missions methodologies to be enormously effective. John is a creative thinker and strategist who deeply loves the people who are trapped in these errant religious movements. In my view, he is one to watch. His methods have proven to be powerful tools in the hands of the Holy Spirit for the destruction of the fortresses of heresy and for leading those in spiritual bondage to a new life in the real Jesus. I could not support his efforts more.

John Morehead is a committed Christian scholar working to bring the life-changing message of the gospel to those who have not heard and those who have rejected. His work is both faithful to Scripture and innovative to the task. I recommend both John and his work unreservedly.

Since the dawn of the “cult wars”, Christian counter-cult organizations and ministries have been dominated by a general approach that has been aggressive and hostile, while at the same time essentially defensive in mindset. John Moreahead and the Neighboring Faiths Project bring a fresh wind across this landscape. John’s methodology is refreshing and long past due. His approach is biblically sound, missiologically sensitive, and centered not so much on “countering cults” as effectively bringing the Good News of the gospel of Christ to persons. John Morehead has my absolute support and endorsement.

John Morehead is helping to develop a biblically faithful, culturally sensitive and creative approach to Christian ministry among those influenced by new religions and alternative spiritualities. He correctly recognizes that faithfulness to Scripture must be combined with a missiological approach which takes seriously the cultural context in which these religious traditions emerge. John’s commitment to truth and an irenic spirit are exactly the right approach for this significant ministry.

Professor of Philosophy of Religion and Intercultural Studies

Many Christians neglect the evangelism of new religious movements, failing to see them as among the fields white unto harvest. Others adopt a combative polemical stance that often appears more interested in winning theological arguments than effectively presenting the good news of the living Jesus. John Morehead and Neighboring Faiths Project exemplify a long overdue third alternative. Their approach seeks to be uncompromisingly biblical while utilizing the latest missiological insights to reach the neglected fields of alternative spiritualities in the most effective way possible. We have much to learn in this area and John Morehead and the Neighboring Faiths Project are pioneering the way.

I value the approach that John Morehead represents in his attempt to bring respect and understanding to his encounters with those groups known as new religious movements. He brings a clear and critical vision to his task – a perspective that is unique, refreshing, and informed by scholarship.

Many years ago the late Walter Martin, called the “father” of cult apologetics, said that in America we have a “mission field on our doorstep.” And yet for many years people have seen a disconnect between missions and apologetics, with the first focused on reaching people, and the second on teaching people. In John Morehead we have a man whose calling joins the two: He reaches people and teaches people, bringing the light of the everlasting gospel in a manner that communicates persuasively and convincingly to those who are alienated from Christ, whether they are members of alternative religious movements or just spiritually wandering. John Morehead has demonstrated consistency in his message and his ministry for many years and I am proud to have someone of his integrity and quality with us in the field.

John Morehead and Neighboring Faiths Project bring to us a dimension that we need to answer the many questions that come our way about new religions and alternative spiritualities.
Dr. G. Henry Wells
Senior Pastor
Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church
John Morehead knows we need to understand the cultures and those
involved in new religious movements to effectively tell them the
Good News in a way they will understand and truly hear. He’s
committed to helping these people find and meet Jesus.
I believe his calling and ministry are on the cutting edge of what
God is doing in new religious movement/cult ministry today. He has
our financial support and prayers. We encourage you to join his
team so that those lost in these groups may come to know Him.
